Family boxes

Good evening dear cardmakers! Today I’m going to show you a small project that I worked on thinking about my family…it will soon be 20 years that my husband and I have been together. Anniversaries to me are all about family and celebration of what we have managed to build and create together so far…

While playing with these little adorable stamps, I realised that there are so many family types so ehm… I made 4 combinations eventually!

Materials:

  1. Dies and Stamps: Famiglia of Modascrap
  2. Die: True Love of Modascrap
  3. Paper Pack “thinking about Polinesia” of Modascrap
  4. Bazzill Smooth white fabric effect
  5. Double-sided tape and Nuvo glue
  6. Impronte d’Autore cutter
  7. Versamark
  8. Versafine black for the sentiments
  9. Embossing Powder “Glacier White”- Nuvo

Now let’s see how I made my 4 different boxes:

FIRST BOX

The BASE measures 9x5cm and in order to make it, I used a fabric effect white Bazzill (220gr) sized approx 15x11cm- I folded it on the longest side at 1.5cm- 3cm, 12cm and 13.5cm and on the shortest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 3cm and 9.5cm. For the LID I used a Bazzill sized 14.5×9.2cm, I folded it on the longer side at 5.1cm- 6.7cm- 11.8cm and 13.4cm respectively (should you use a ticker paper for the base, then i suggest you increase the lid measures by 1mm otherwise it will be too tight and you won’t be able to close the box

SECOND BOX

The BASE measures 8x5cm and in order to make it I used a fabric effect white Bazzill (220gr) sized approx 14x11cm- I folded it on the longest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 11cm and 12.5cm and on the shortest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 8cm and 9.5cm. For the LID I used a Bazzill sized 14.5×8.2cm, I folded it on the longest side at 5.1cm- 6.7cm- 11.8cm and 13.4cm

THIRD BOX

The BASE measures 7×4.5cm and in order to make it I used a fabric effect white Bazzill (220gr) sized approx 13×10.5cm- I folded it on the longest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 10cm and 11.5cm and on the shortest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 7.5cm and 9cm. For the LID I used a Bazzill sized 13.5×4.7cm, I folded it on the longest side at 4.6cm- 6.2cm- 10.8cm and 12.4cm

FOURTH BOX

The BASE measures 6x4cm and in order to make it I used a fabric effect white Bazzill (220gr) sized approx 12x10cm- I folded it on the longest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 9cm and 10.5cm and on the shortest side at 1.5cm- 3cm- 7cm and 8.5cm. For the LID I used a Bazzill sized 12.5×4.2cm, I folded it on the longest side at 4.1cm- 5.7cm- 9.8cm and 11.4cm

Now that I have all the necessary elements, I perfomed some cuts on each base as per picture

Each angle has been gently rounded in order to facilitate the gluing process

At this point, I applied the double-sided tape as per picture

I always add a bit of glue to make sure that the tape alone doesn’t come off

Prior to glue the sides together, I attached my patterned paper

Depending on the base size, I cut it 2mm smaller so if for example the base measures 9x5cm, then the patterned paper will measure 8.8×4.8cm

At this point I glued all sides together

I normally use some wooden pegs to help the gluing process- just make sure you don’t leave them for too long as they might leave marks on your paper 😉
The wooden effect lid that you can see in the picture above will better show you how the paper has been folded. It’s quite doffuclt to show them on a white paper!

I die-cut the word “family” multiple times in order to create more volume, as well as the hearts for the internal side of the base and some wihite hearts which I stamped the small family members on…

For the “sentiments” I used the same “Famiglia” kit, I stamped them using the Versamark and embossed using the Glacier White Powder.

Et Voila’…the Family Boxes are ready…hope you like them! Happy crafting everyone!!!
